The Lionel Model RR Family began in the very early 1950's, and lasted for around ten years. During this period, the majority of O-scale cars, track, and other supporting items were purchased. After this time period to the present, the entire model RR was preserved in attic storage. This gate is truly an antique. It was patented in 1915 per the attached plaque. The gate does not function. The device to cause the gate to go up and down is missing. The electrical wiring and the light bulb are also missing. Appearance wise, the crossing gate is acceptable based on it's age. The base of the crossing gate is 4 3/4 inches long, and 2 1/2 inches wide. It stands 10 inches high from it's base to the tip of the gate.
